If you’re on a well and you’ve started noticing problems like your pump kicking on and off constantly, water sputtering from faucets, or fluctuating water pressure, there’s a good chance your pressure tank is the issue. These tanks are built to regulate the pressure in your system and keep the well pump from running nonstop. When they go bad, the whole system gets out of sync.
Short cycling is probably the biggest giveaway. That’s when your well pump turns on and off rapidly, sometimes just seconds apart. It puts a huge amount of stress on the pump and can lead to burnout if it’s not addressed quickly. You might also notice water hammer, air in the lines, or inconsistent pressure throughout the house. If any of that sounds familiar, it’s time to have the tank checked out.
We start by safely shutting off the water and draining the system. That usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the tank and your setup. Once that’s done, we disconnect the old tank and haul it off for recycling. You don’t have to worry about any cleanup.
Make sure it’s leveled and secured, and reconnect it to your plumbing. We also check and adjust the pressure switch settings to make sure they match the new tank. Once everything is back in place, we pressurize the system, flush the lines, and make sure it’s running the way it should.
Most jobs take about two to three hours. You’ll be without water during that time, but we do our best to keep everything moving quickly and cleanly so there’s as little disruption to your day as possible.
Replacing your pressure tank might not be the most glamorous upgrade, but it makes a big difference in how your water system performs. With a properly sized tank, your well pump doesn’t have to turn on as often, which reduces wear and tear and lowers your energy use. The water pressure in your home becomes more consistent, and those annoying issues like spurting faucets or loud pipe noises go away.
You also get peace of mind. A failing pressure tank is one of those things that can quietly damage your system over time. Replacing it before it fails completely helps protect your pump, your plumbing, and your water quality.
If you’re noticing pressure issues, pump problems, or it’s just been a while since your tank was inspected, give us a call. We’ll take a look, walk you through the options, and make sure your system is running strong again.
